Shubin Zeng

I'm a Project Manager at Cyentech in Houston, leading U.S. Department of Energy projects on electromagnetic wireless sensing and communication systems for subsurface COâ‚‚ plume monitoring in CCUS applications. I also serve as Principal Investigator on a DOE project developing a cloud-based 3D electromagnetic telemetry simulation platform for oil and geothermal drilling.

Previously, I was a Seismic Imaging Engineer at CGG, and an HPC & Web Development Intern at Schlumberger Doll Research in Cambridge. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Houston, where I researched numerical methods for electromagnetic wave propagation in complex media.

My current work leverages Scientific Machine Learning — including INN, FNO, and Transolver — for real-time inversion and uncertainty quantification of ultra-deep resistivity measurements. I collaborate with international oilfield service companies on high-fidelity modeling, software toolkits, and inversion algorithms for next-generation electromagnetic logging, MWD, and geosteering.

I have published 1 book, 13 peer-reviewed journal papers, and 20+ conference abstracts, with an h-index of 8 and over 200 citations. Feel free to explore my publications or reach out via email or LinkedIn.
